Cloughjordan House is a 17th-century mansion that has been beautifully restored and converted into an exclusive wedding venue. It’s located in the picturesque countryside of Tipperary, Ireland, surrounded by lush gardens and rolling hills. The venue is known for its rustic charm, luxurious accommodation, and exceptional service.
In December 2022, I had the pleasure of attending a family wedding at Cloughjordan House. It was a beautiful celebration that was made all the more special by the stunning surroundings and the warm hospitality of the venue.

In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my experience of the venue and area from the viewpoint of a guest, as well as some tips and tricks for photographing a winter wedding.
The Ceremony Room – The Woodshed
The wedding ceremony took place in the venue’s converted barn, which offered a beautiful rustic atmosphere.

The Reception – Ballroom
The reception was held in the ballroom, which was adorned with lights, candles, and beautiful floral arrangements.

Photographing a Winter Wedding
Photographing a winter wedding can be challenging, but it also offers unique opportunities to capture the beauty of the season. Here are some tips and tricks I used to capture the magic of the winter wedding at Cloughjordan House:
- Use natural light to your advantage: With the sun setting earlier in the day, it’s important to take advantage of the natural light available
- Bring the right equipment: In low-light conditions, it’s important to have the right equipment to capture sharp, well-exposed images. I used a fast prime lens, which allowed me to shoot in low light without having to rely on a flash.
- Embrace the weather: Winter weather can be unpredictable, but it can also offer unique opportunities for stunning photographs.

Conclusion
Overall, the winter wedding at Cloughjordan House was a beautiful and memorable celebration that was made all the more special by the stunning surroundings and warm hospitality of the venue. With its rustic charm, luxurious accommodation, and exceptional service, it’s no wonder that Cloughjordan House is a popular destination for weddings in Ireland.
If you’re planning a winter wedding, don’t be afraid to embrace the beauty of the season and capture it in your photographs. With the right techniques and equipment, you can create stunning images that capture the magic of a winter wedding.
Please note that I was not the official photographer for this wedding, but was guest that was asked to take candid photos by the bride and groom.
